Weather can't dampen the mood at Poppy Appeal launch in Giltbrook
Wind and rain from the edge of Storm Boelo didn’t put off members of the Eastwood and District Branch of the Royal British Legion at their annual Poppy Appeal launch event in Giltbrook.
The event took place at Giltbrook Retail Park on October 24 and featured military vehicles, a the Seaforth Highlanders Military Pipe Band, Eastwood Male Voice Choir and dignitaries from across the county.

There was also a short ceremony with a bugler.
Posting on their Facebook page, Eastwood and District Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL), said: “Wet and windy in the end but we have to say thank you to all that came down to support the launch, the branch, the RBL and more importantly the veterans to whom this means so much.

“We had so many vehicles this year we could start our own mechanised unit!
“Thank you to the public that gave, the pipers that piped, the choir that sang, the vicars that prayed, the bugler who made us cry, the VIPs who came and the veterans who wore their berets and medals with pride.
"We thank you all on behalf of the Branch for making this a truly special day.
“Final thanks to Lesley Grand-Scrutton for being our official photographer once again.”
All money raised will go to the Eastwood & District Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The district includes all the way through to Nuthall (and Awsworth).
