Greasley men wanted to support council's White Ribbon Day photo campaign
Greasley Parish Council is calling on local pubs, clubs and businesses to take part in Men of Greasley for White Ribbon Day.
Taking place on November 25, the council is looking for local men to be photographed holding a few words they would say to challenge inappropriate behaviour towards women.
It could be anything that you would say in a real situation, such as ‘mate, that isn’t funny’, ‘that’s not banter, pack it in’ or ‘don’t talk to her like that’
Posting on its Facebook page, the council said: “All it takes is one photograph to potentially influence local men and boys.

"Seeing someone they know and respect speak up could encourage them to do the same.
“Taking part is simple, free and only takes a few minutes.
"Choose a phrase that sounds like you, take a photo holding it written on white A4 paper, and we’ll arrange the photograph for our online campaign and display at Greasley Sports and Community Centre.
“Whether you’re behind the bar, coaching a team or running a local business, your example matters.

The council is also urging anyone to share this with a pub, club or business that might like to join them and support White Ribbon Day.
White Ribbon Day is annually recognised as the day men show their year-long commitment to ending violence against women and girls.
The day inspires individuals and organisations to take positive action to challenge harmful cultures and behaviours that lead to violence against women and girls.
White Ribbon-accredited and supporter organisations and White Ribbon ambassadors and champions are vital in driving this culture change.
Every year, White Ribbon UK works around a theme to raise awareness about men’s violence against women and girls and the need for men to be part of the solution as active allies.
