The recent inspection judged the Warsop school to be operating at a strong standard across achievement, attendance and behaviour, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing.

Inspectors also praised the school's high aspirations, inclusive culture and commitment to ensuring every child succeeds.

Amy Watson, Headteacher at Birklands Primary School, said: "We are incredibly proud that the inspection recognised the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils and the support of our families. At Birklands, we believe every child deserves to feel valued, supported and inspired to achieve their very best.

"To see our pupils achieve outcomes that are significantly above national averages makes us immensely proud. These results represent much more than numbers. They reflect years of hard work, ambition and commitment from pupils, staff and families working together.

"We know there is always more to do and we remain ambitious for every child who attends our school."

The positive inspection follows an exceptional year of academic achievement. In 2025-26, 83% of Year 6 pupils achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics combined, placing Birklands 21 percentage points above the national average and significantly above expectations for schools serving similar communities.

Pupils also achieved excellent results across individual subjects, with 94% reaching the expected standard in reading, 91% in mathematics and 82.8% in writing. Earlier in the school, 91.1% of Year 2 pupils passed the phonics screening check, while 73.4% of children achieved a Good Level of Development in the Early Years Foundation Stage, both above national averages.

Robbie McGrath, Director of School Improvement (Primary) at Nova Education Trust which runs the school, said:

"This is a fantastic outcome for Birklands Primary School and a testament to the hard work and commitment shown by staff, pupils, governors and families.

"We are delighted to see the positive impact of the work taking place across the school and look forward to supporting the team as they continue their improvement journey."
