Millie Mellors made sure Mansfield Town Ladies booked their place in the next round of the Adobe FA Cup with a 90th-minute winner.

The second half substitute made a huge impact with her late goal to snatch the win from Ossett United at the weekend.

With Nigel Clough’s side on the road in League One, Mansfield Town Ladies enjoyed another run out at the One Call Stadium.

Stags hosted Ossett in the Second Round Qualifying stage of the FA Cup and fought hard for a 2-1 win, with Mellors and Summer Oliff getting on the score-sheet.

After going 1-0 down in the first half, Andi Bell delivered a rallying half-time talk. The manager wanted her side to match Ossett’s aggression and Stags delivered that in abundance.

Their fresh approach to the second half turned the game on its head and allowed Mansfield Town a way back to bank their place in the next round.

Speaking to club media after the match, match-winner Mellors reflected on her game-changing goal.

“It feels amazing, it’s indescribable. You can’t put it into words because with the FA Cup, it’s such a good opportunity to play in and then scoring the winning goal and your team crowding you – it’s amazing.

“We needed to come out and show that we wanted to win, show that we wanted to progress into the next round. We did that – we came out with so much more aggression and with the intensity and desire to win it. That’s what got us the win and that’s what got me the opportunity to score.”
