Two to appear in court over EDL march

Two men have been charged after six arrests were made in connection with a English Defence League (EDL) march in Nottingham city centre.

Jack Stevens, 26, of Oxford Street, Long Eaton, has been charged with criminal damage in connection with a report of a flare being thrown during the event on Saturday.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on the morning of Tuesday, September 6.

Carl Worrall, 49, of Pile Street, Newport, has been charged with a Section 5 Public Order offence and the possession of a Class B drug.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 23.

A 29-year old man arrested on suspicion of refusing to remove a face covering under a Section 60AA Order has been released without charge.

Two men, aged 48 and 26, arrested on suspicion of causing a breach of the peace have also been released without charge.

The force had originally announced that five arrests had been made on the day, although a sixth man – an 18-year-old was also arrested that evening on suspicion of committing a racially-aggravated public order offence.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
