A man killed in a car crash which saw a Clipstone man charged with dangerous driving has been named.

Mark Hunter, aged 35, was a front seat passenger in a car that hit a tree in Hawton Road, Newark, on Sunday, August 28.

The incident happened just after 9am, when, Nottinghamshire Police said, a suspected stolen car failed to stop for officers in Newark.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where Mr Hunter, from Mapperley, Nottingham, died from his injuries.

Man arrested after drugs found inside car stopped for speeding in Blidworth

Anthony Riley, of Forest Road, Clipstone, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking and failing to provide a specimen for analysis in connection with incident.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Witnesses are asked to call police on 101.
