Zara said: "We’re all so excited for people to see it.

"We used the academy to practise fight scenes so had performers from all over the country coming to Mansfield and gave our students chance to get involved too.”

Zara has been studying martial arts since she was seven – in 2006 she became the first British martial artist to be inducted into the International Karate & Kickboxing Hall of Fame and is a former 13 times world champion.

Zara is joined on-screen by co-star Ross O’Hennessy of Game of Thrones fame.

Zara said of the nomination: “It’s such an honour to be recognised and nominated against some big names, it’s a testament to our team effort – we’re so proud of everyone involved.”

Evolutionary Films’ creative director, Ross Boyask, who acquired the film for the company, said: “I’ve known Matt Routledge and Zara Phythian for a long time and have always been a fan of their work, so I was really excited to watch Tribal and delighted that we could acquire the film and work together on getting it out to the world.”

The film releases on Monday on Sky Store, Amazon Prime and iTunes and is already receiving strong reviews from critics.
