Mansfield's Christmas panto is cancelled - oh yes it is

Hundreds of panto fans have taken to social media to show their support after the Palace Theatre announced they would remain closed for the rest of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Although performances will not be taking place during the autumn and winter season, plans are being made for the venue to be used in new, innovative ways over the coming months.

Customers who have purchased tickets for shows in 2020 and advance tickets for the pantomime will be contacted by the Palace Theatre Box Office team to transfer or refund tickets.

Adam Moss is a huge favourite with Mansfield panto fans after starring in the past three panto seasons in our town.

Adam said: “It's a sad time for panto and theatres in general - this doesn't just effect the people on the stage it also effects the crew and front of house teams who work extremely hard to keep that theatre running as it does.

"Personally it will be the first Christmas I've had off in many years, but the great thing is it will be with our new baby who's due in October.

"As I say every year, Mansfield have shown me their support over social media and I see every comment they make, it's very humbling to know that what we create in panto stays with people for a long time.

“Its an amazing place but we have to be safe and hopefully theatres will be back soon, I'll miss you all this year, stay safe and I'll see ya later gang!”

Panto fans were quick to voice their support of the disappointing but ‘understandable’ decision.

Rachel Wolden said: Christmas won't be the same without you and the experience for sure, but it will be worth the wait, as long as everyone is safe and well to tell the tale and even joke about it too."

Nicola Maude said: “Gutted but totally understandable, I hope everyone stays safe and we’ll just have to wait for Christmas 2021.”
