It is that time of year when we reflect on the past 12 months to review some of the news stories in your Chad for 2024.

In 2024, we reported on several stories from across the community, including devastating fires, events and exhibitions, fundraising efforts and campaigns.

We also covered significant political changes in the region, such as the historic election of an East Midlands Mayor in May and the appointment of a new MP for Mansfield in July.

Additionally, we followed Mansfield Town FC after their promotion to League One.

Here is your 2024 in review…

On Thursday, July 18, Mansfield and Warsop community partners attended the official opening ceremony at the new site. A midday ceremony marked the official opening of the new Health Hub in Warsop. Warsop Health Hub. The hub, off Carr Lane, has been in the making since 2019. The hub is home to a fitness suite, a 15m x 8m swimming pool, sports hall, changing facilities and conference space.

Floral tributes were left for a “lovely”, 77-year-old “gentleman” who died in a house fire in Mansfield back in August. Firefighters from Mansfield and Ashfield Fire Stations attended the fire on Redland Road, Mansfield, following a call just after 11:20pm on Sunday, August 18, by a member of the public, who saw smoke issuing from the property. The 77-year-old man was named locally as Mr Jim Stokes.
