We also covered significant political changes in the region, such as the historic election of an East Midlands Mayor in May and the appointment of a new MP for Mansfield in July.

9. Arts festival at former Debenhams unit
In March, young people organised a unique creative arts festival at the former Debenhams store in Mansfield. The former Debenhams store was transformed into a creative arts hub for the day with activities and zones all produced and designed by the students at The Brunts Academy, MyPlace, Inspire College, Portland College, Wings School, Outward Academy and West Nottinghamshire College. 10. Promotion for the Stags
Mansfield Town FC fans celebrated the club's promotion to League One with by lining the streets for an open top bus parade back in April. Players and staff waved from the bus. 11. Big moment

12. Rainworth girl recognised for bravery
The East Midlands Ambulance Service presented a Bravery Certificate to Aurora Chilvers at Rainworth Primary School. Six-year-old Aurora received this award for her courageous actions in helping her mother when she became seriously unwell at home on January 24, 2024. The ceremony included Aurora, her mother Beth Chilvers, Hayley Hodson, a call handler, and Barbara Robinson, an ambulance technician. Photo: Brian Eyre
