A breath test revealed he had 54 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Sarah Neale, mitigating, told the court Blakey drove an 18-tonne lorry to provide protection for highway maintenance crews and was likely to lose his job as a result of the conviction.

He was fined £650 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £65 and court costs of £85. He was banned from driving for 12 months.
