The kind-hearted Skegby Junior Academy decided she would get her hair shaved off to help make a wig for children and young people facing hair loss from cancer or other conditions

"I have been growing my hair for ages and even though I've loved having long hair, I'm so happy to know it will get a brand new life and help someone to feel happy, confident and pretty again,” said Ellie.

“It’s not fair that some children lose their hair so I'm happy to help because mine will grow back.”

Proud mum Cassie Bone said it was a fantastic gesture, adding: “As her mother I couldn't be any prouder of her.

“She is the bravest and most courageous girl I know. To do something so special at such a young age is fantastic and she is truly an inspiration to others.

“It's been a beautiful experience for us all as a family to witness such an amazing act of kindness, truly blessed to have such a kind caring daughter.”

The event saw Ellie have 20 inches of her hair cut on her way to raising £1180, which was then funding matched by Mansfield firm Miller Knight, where her dad works.
