Visit the grounds of a haunted medieval monastery based near Ollerton. The 150 acre park boasts woodland, lakes, trails and beautiful scenery as well as tours inside the house. This attraction caters for the needs walkers, cyclists and dof-walkers to enjoy the sunshine this weekend.

Go Ape and Sherwood Pines

The treetop adventure courses, based at Sherwood Pines, featurs high ropes, awesome crossings, tunnels, bridges and an epic wind-in-your-face zip wires in the trees facing over 3000 acres of woodland. Based in the forest park in Edwinstowe, people of all ages can also enjoy the great outdoors, smell of pine, sandpits, dens, wigwam making with logs and ponds.

Wheelgate Theme Park and Waterpark

With a range of rides and attractions - from the Alien Galaxy and Land of the Pharaohs, to the log flume and mining zone – Wheelgate is a great theme park for children. The park is also home to a farm and several shops and eateries.

Enjoy a stroll or cycle along the longest avenue of lime trees in Europe at this Worksop-based park. The huge area of parkland, farmland and woods covers over 3800 acres - including gardens, a Victorian chapel, shops, eateries and a children’s play area - all based around a lake. Cycle hire is available at the visitors centre.

White Post Farm

For ‘free-range fun for all the family’, this is the place to be. There are hundreds of species of animals to see and feed and educational talks and activities throughout the day. There is a variety of play equipment, go-carts and shops to browse. People can even pick up a new pet on the site.

The Great Central Railway, Nottingham (Ruddington, Loughborough)

If your children love trains they will love it here. With trains operating on Saturday and Sunday (May 7-8) families will also be able to just jump on board and enjoy the views of the fascinating surrounding areas.

Explore the legend of Robin Hood in a park full of walks and mountain bike trails for all age groups. A number of facilities are available for an action packed day out.

Nottingham Raceway Karting

Buxton Raceway boasts a 550 metre track which quite technical and requires great skill to get a good lap time, while the design is also great for the novice drivers. There are karts available for all ages.

Creswell Crags

This limestone gorge based in a country park and wildlife reserve - which means there are plenty of places to go exploring. The land also includes a museum and visitors centre. Perfect for a brisk walk or leisurely day out.
