Mansfield man 'blown away' by success of his new wheelie bin cleaning business

Enterprising Daniel Pidduck took the plunge to go it alone during lockdown and launch bin-cleaning company The Bin Boss after spending many years working for water companies.

The 38-year-old’s fledgling business has since gone from strength to strength and he now has rounds cleaning and disinfecting wheelie bins across the whole of Nottinghamshire.

And Daniel, who is looking to boost his workforce due to his firm’s early success, has also gone viral on social media after taking time out of his busy schedule to tidy up the tired and grubby-looking ‘Welcome to Mansfield Woodhouse’ signs dotted around his home town.

“I’m honestly blown away with how it’s gone,” said Daniel. "I decided I’d had enough and wanted to do something for me, instead of working for someone else.

"I told my partner I would give it a year to see if it took off, but within six weeks it’s gone crazy – I have almost 1,500 bins to clean a month.

"I was finishing early one day when I drove past the Woodhouse signs and realised they looked dirty, so I stopped and gave them a good clean – it went a bit crazy on Facebook after that.”

With his regular rounds covering Mansfield, Warsop, Clipstone and Farnsfield, Daniel has also been offered a commercial contract cleaning bins at a holiday park in the area.

And Daniel says he’s even been forced to turn away custom and believes part of his success has been due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"I really didn’t expect it to be as busy as this, so I’m now looking for another van and someone to take on more rounds for me,” he told Chad,

"I definitely think people are more focused on hygiene since the pandemic started, so knowing their bin has been cleaned after it has been emptied gives people peace of mind.”
