How the Pleasley Nightingales WI can help you re-find your energy

Special visit bringss new energy to Pleasley Nightingales WI meeting

We have all been there, feel a quiet wave of exhaustion toward the coming of each month. This month end was different. Instead of opening with our usual updates from our national team we invited The Potty Plotters. A vibrant and dotty pair who reignited the room, left us all re energised and giddy. Also know as Elaine and Judith two inspiring women who graced us with their presence and fascinations around loofahs. Yes that’s right loofahs. The kind of loofah which is a rough-surfaced scrubbing sponge. Who would know how interesting they are. We now know. They are the future. Get rid of the nasty micro plastics we use in our homes daily, those that are now turning up in our blood systems and look to loofahs. The speakers entertained us and the laughter rolled throughout. The Potty Plotters are Elaine Crick (’Big Potty’) and Julia Slater (’Little Potty’), a popular gardening and allotment duo based at the Ashbourne Road and District Allotments in Derby. Two friends who turned their adjacent allotment plots into a humorous and educational hub for growing fruit, flowers, and vegetables.

They teach beginner gardeners, share practical tips, and host community gardening projects (such as the Midlands Loofah Line). They write a "Grow Your Own" blog for the National Garden Scheme. They host the Plotcast podcast available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Podbean. They appear regularly on BBC Radio Derby. You can follow their updates on The Potty Plotters Facebook Page. By the time the 40 minute mark hit, we hadn't just lost a mind full of to dos we arrived with we actually felt energized. Ladies lingered to keep chatting to the potty pair. They were a delight. Our meetings are good meetings. The Pleasley Nightingales WI makes a group session enjoyable no stiff formality just giving women room to talk to each other like real human beens. Opps beings, those allotments ladies certainly left their mark on me. Please get in touch if you feel you would enjoy a slice of what we offer. Ditch the micro plastics - Happy loofahing.
