“National Fitness Day is a fantastic opportunity to open the doors of our leisure centres and encourage more people to get moving. We want to make physical activity accessible and enjoyable for everyone, giving people the chance to try something new, discover what's available on their doorstep and take the first step towards a healthier lifestyle.

“Whether it's a workout in the gym, a swim, a fitness class or an activity with family and friends, there are plenty of ways to get involved. We're looking forward to welcoming people into our centres and helping them find activities they enjoy.”

Coun Andy Burgin, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Leisure at Mansfield District Council, said:

"It's a great idea to celebrate National Fitness Day by opening the doors of our fantastic leisure centres for everyone. I urge anyone to take this excellent opportunity to explore what they have to offer and make use of the facilities. Whether you want to do a workout at one of our brilliant gyms or take a look around to see how we can support you in your health and wellbeing journey, there's something for everyone. I hope to see lots of people taking advantage of this idea."

National Fitness Day is an annual campaign led by ukactive that encourages people across the country to get active and highlights the physical, mental and social benefits of regular activity.

The free access offer is available on Wednesday 16 September only and visitors will need to sign up for a free MORE membership. For full details on how to take part, visit your chosen centres website.
