Selston bounced back in style from last week’s defeat at Maltby to make light work on their visitors with a Colt Reynolds brace and goals from Jordan Black, Nick Hines and Logan Green doing the damage.

“That's much more like us. We've been waiting for a performance like that, and I thought the lads were excellent from the first whistle,” said Stevenson

“We made a number of changes, but the important thing was that everyone came in and did their jobs. The attitude was spot on, the energy was there and we moved the ball really well. We created some excellent opportunities and, importantly, took them.

“We've spoken about turning performances into results, and today we've done exactly that. Five goals, some really good football and a great response after last week. Hopefully this gives everyone a lift and something we can build on.

“It's disappointing to concede just before half-time because I thought we'd been in complete control, but the response after the break was exactly what we wanted. We got straight back on the front foot, scored again and went on to finish the game strongly.”

The home side started brightly, moving the ball confidently through the middle of the park and immediately putting Dunkirk under pressure.

Their positive approach was rewarded with an excellent opening goal after Jordan Black cut inside and finished well.

The second goal arrived on 43 minutes following another excellent passage of football which saw Reynolds finish confidently from a tight angle.

It looked set to be the perfect first-half performance, but Dunkirk found a way back into the contest in the second minute of stoppage time when Alex Troke pulled a goal back.

Any thoughts of a Dunkirk comeback were extinguished when Hines headed home on 55 minutes to restore the two goal advantage.

Reynolds capped an excellent individual display by adding another with a calm finish.

The convincing win was wrapped up on 78 minutes when the Dunkirk goalkeeper misjudged the flight of the ball, allowing Green to rise and head home.
