46 years ago this weekend saw Mansfield pull off a great FA Cup fourth round win at Blackpool.

5,000 Stags’ fans had made the trip to the Seaside and cheered their team on to a famous 2-0 win.

Dai Jones’ brace at the start and end of the game secured victory for Mansfield.

The defender opened the scoring just four minutes in when he rose highest to nod in Jimmy Goodfellow’s corner and send the travelling Stags’ supporters into a frenzy.

Rather than just be prepared to hold on to their one-goal advantage, the Stags tried to increase the lead.

However, Roberts and Walker were both to be denied by good stops from the home ‘keeper.

Not even Jimmy Armfield could stir the Seasiders and they were made to pay late on when Jones sealed the success for the visitors.
