Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt praised the Trotters' 'character' as they came from 2-0 down to end Mansfield Town's eight-game unbeaten run in League Two.

Declan John's brace and a last-gasp winner from Arthur Gnahoua cancelled out earlier strikes from Ollie Clarke and Jamie Reid to secure the 3-2 victory.

Stags boss Nigel Clough was left wondering what could have been after conceding what he described as 'a fluke and a scrappy own goal' late in the game.

However, Evatt - who had been outspoken about the game being moved to last night - saw the contest differently.

"I thought first half we were the better team, we had the better opportunities and should have been in front," He told Wanderers' YouTube channel.

"Second half they put a lot into the first 20-25 minutes and we were just trying to stay with them more than anything else.

"The spirit and character, once we got the first goal we had them by the throat.

"We could have settled at 2-2 but we didn't and went and got the winner, which was great."

Mansfield return to action on Saturday when they host Cambridge United.
