Nicky Law calls for Alfreton Town consistency

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law is challenging his side to produce the consistency that has been missing of late starting with this Saturday’s tough Vanarama National League game at in-form Boston United.

The Reds boss has seen his side score well and triumph in two Emirates FA Cup away ties against rival National League North opponents in the past fortnight, but he has also seen them lose their last two league games over the same period.

“The cup wins and prize money are obviously a big bonus to us but we definitely need to start producing some positive results in the league as a matter of urgency” said Law.

“Having lost the last two league games it is important we try to get back on track again.

“Our inconsistency is currently a major issue and the players have to quickly start and realise what makes them a decent team and what makes them average one.

“It is all down to what we do and how we approach each game starting at Boston this weekend.

“Boston will be a tough fixture but it is all about us, nobody else. It’s all about what we do both individually but more importantly, collectively” added Law.

Boston have won both of their last two league games and three of their last four fixtures for points to climb up to eighth place in the table, three points and three places higher than the Reds who have played a game less.

Alfreton will go into the fixture in a strong position with no new injuries and with just winger John Johnston unavailable for the game through suspension as he sits out the second of a three-match ban.

Law ended: “This week we have Joe Leesley returning from a one-game suspension and Sam Berry coming back from illness so that should make us stronger as a squad and will certainly give us a few more options” ended Law.
