Nathan Moriah-Welsh’s superb effort against Luton Town has been named Mansfield Town’s Goal of the Month for August.

The Luton win is not a result Mansfield fans are going to forget in a hurry and Nathan Moriah-Welsh played a huge part in it.

He and Jon Russell both enjoyed pulling the strings in attack for Stags, contributing two goals and an assist each in the emphatic 5-2 win at the One Call Stadium.

Both of Moriah-Welsh’s goals were impressive finishes but his second was just that little bit more special. After cleanly whipping Russell’s ball into the net for the opener, NMW struck again less than ten minutes later.

Finding himself in plenty of space and on the receiving end of a Regan Hendry pass, Moriah-Welsh let rip a thunderous strike on the edge of the box that blasted past Josh Keeley in the Luton net.

Fans voted for their Goal of the Month for August and it was Moriah-Welsh who came out on top. Watch the replay of his sweet strike against the Hatters below.

Moriah-Welsh was delighted to get off the mark in amber and blue and he spoke about his link-up play with teammate and friend Jon Russell after the seven-goal thriller.

“We’ve worked on that [the first goal] a lot in training and they usually go in, so I’m glad it went in today. Russ with an assist as well, which was nice, me and him have got a nice connection, so it was a nice goal.

“Me and Russ are really tight, so if he isn’t scoring, I’m scoring – it’s a good feeling. It was nice to get in on the goals today.”
