Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox has dismissed stories linking him with a move to Championship club Blackpool as pure speculation.

Cox said no contact had been made with him or the club, though admitted it was flattering to be publicly linked with such a job after a story emerged on Sky Sports last week suggesting he was on the Seasiders’ short list.

“It was just speculation, that’s all, and I can’t stop that,” he said. “I am contracted to Mansfield Town and I am just getting on with my job until someone tells me otherwise.

“Myself and the chairman have a good relationship and I’d like to think if anyone made contact, the chairman would give me a call.

“It is always nice to have speculation about you in a positive way. I have been in this game a long time and I know you are always two or three games away from the sack in this business.

“So it is nice that there seems to be a few people out there who think I am doing a good job at Mansfield Town.

“I will continue to try to build the club and make it successful as long as I am here.”
