Mansfield Town signed Swansea City’s young midfielder Jack Evans on transfer deadline day evening – after allowing three players to leave.

Striker Andy Cook and midfielders Jacob Mellis and Otis Khan left earlier on Friday evening.

Evans, who has represented Wales at under-21 level, will remain with the Stags until the end of the season.

After joining the Swans’ academy at the age of eight, Evans made his first appearance for the club’s under-23s in December 2015 and signed a new deal at the Liberty Stadium 18 months later.

Manager Graham Coughlan said of the 21-year-old: “Jack is a tidy footballer, from a good footballing background.

“He will come in and cover the positions which we have lost through the departures of Jacob and Otis.

“He plays the game the way in which we want to play and he should be a good fit for us.”
