Another club decides against signing former Mansfield Town man Aaron Lewis
Aaron Lewis has hit another stumbling block in his mission to sign for a new club this summer.
The versatile midfielder left Mansfield Town at the end of the 2025/26 season as a free agent but he is still yet to join a new side.

Lewis wasn’t short of suitors during the January transfer window, with Plymouth Argyle and Stevenage both showing interest in his services. Mansfield Town reportedly rejected offers from the two clubs, in hopes Lewis would sign a new contract.
The 28-year-old turned down ‘multiple new contract offers’ from Stags and left upon the expiration of his deal in June.
Unfortunately for Lewis, the same level of interest shown in him back in January has not resurfaced this window. He has recently been on trial with Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone but they have decided not to offer him a contract, according to The Courier.
Lewis played 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors match against Livingston last week and had reportedly been invited back for another stint by manager Simo Valakari. However, the latest update claims that the Welshman did not feature in either of Tuesday or Thursday’s bounce games, and Valakari has decided not to offer him a contract in Perth.
“He was here for one game,” the manager said. “At the moment it’s unlikely to happen.”
St Johnstone have been busy this summer and are still on the market for a new midfielder but Lewis is not part of those plans unless ‘there’s a significant twist in the tale’.
This isn't the first time Lewis has been snubbed of a chance to sign for a new club this summer either.
Prior to his spell with St Johnstone, the Welshman also spent time on trial with Bradford City. He featured in the Bantams’ pre-season friendlies but the club eventually decided not to go ahead with a transfer, having favoured another trialist in Everton Academy graduate Reece Welch instead.
