Former Mansfield Town ace invited to second trial opportunity at Scottish Premiership club

Aaron Lewis has been invited to take part in a second behind-closed-doors game with Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone.

Lewis left Mansfield Town following the expiration of his contract this summer and is still yet to commit full-time to a new club.

The Welshman recently featured in a behind-closed-doors match for St Johnstone and has been invited back for a second stint by manager Simo Valakari, according to The Courier.

Lewis played 45 minutes against Livingston at McDiarmid Park last Thursday as a trialist. He has also spent time training with St Johnstone after arriving in Perth last week.

The Saints are already underway in the Scottish Premiership, having picked up a win and a defeat so far. Their three bounce games have been scheduled during a fortnight break from competitive action in Scotland’s top flight.

Since his departure from Stags, Lewis has also been linked with League One opponents Bradford City. He spent time with the Bantams on a trial basis, featuring in four pre-season friendlies. However, it was reported earlier this month that Bradford had opted not to pursue a permanent move for Lewis and were instead offering a full-time deal to fellow trialist and Everton Academy graduate Reece Welch.

Lewis was previously the subject of interest from both Plymouth Argyle and Stevenage as well. The versatile midfielder reportedly rejected multiple new contract offers from Mansfield Town, prior to his deal expiring in June. He joined Victor Adeboyejo and Dom Dwyer in leaving as free agents.
