Alfreton Town look to return to winning ways against Boston United

Reds manager Nicky Law has both Joe Leesley (returning from a one-game suspension) and defender Sam Berry available again for the game, the latter having recovered from illness which kept him out of the win at Hednesford Town last Saturday.

The pair’s inclusion in the squad means Law has only the suspended John Johston unavailable and so has plenty of options all over the park as the Reds go in search of a first league win in three outings to keep them in touch with the top five teams in the table.

On home soil this season, United have had mixed fortunes at their Jakemans Stadium home this season.

They have only won one of their last four games on home soil for points, that being a 1-0 home win over bottom-of-the-table AFC Telford United last Saturday.

Prior to that they have lost three, drawn one and won two other games, these being 2-1 against Curzon Ashton and 1-0 against Gloucester City.

The one and only draw so far was a 1-1 scoreline against Tamworth whilst defeats have been tasted against Solihull Moors (1-4), Chorley (1-2) and AFC Fylde (0-3).

Alfreton have won three out of the last five games in all competitions, their most recent being a 4-2 victory away at 10 man Hednesford in the Emirates FA Cup meaning the Reds progressed through to the fourth qualifying round.

Despite going 1-0 down early on, Alfreton turned the game around in style, and a hat trick from Jordan Robertson, along with Dan Bradley’s first goal of the season helped secure the win.

Boston have won their last two league games and three of their last six, losing the other three.

In their last outing, Dennis Greene’s side recorded a slender 1-0 victory at home to bottom of the league AFC Telford United in the league last weekend. A tight game was settled by a Carl Piergianni goal just after half time which was enough to seal all three points for the Lincolnshire side.
