Last chance to have your say on Broxtowe Council's next budget

Broxtowe Council’s annual budget survey closes next week, meaning there only days left for people to tell the authority where its spending should be focused.

Everyone with a stake in Broxtowe is encouraged to take part in the survey, including residents and businesses and voluntary groups that operate within the borough.

As well as helping the council understand where residents feel the budget should be spent in the year ahead, there are also questions about satisfaction with council services.

Questions will be on a wide range of services provided by the council, including waste collection, car parks, housing, street cleanliness, and the state of the local parks.

Examples include:

  • Seeking external funding opportunities to support initiatives in Eastwood, including a Healthy Living Hub
  • Securing the delivery of a new refurbished leisure centre in Bramcote
  • Launching a new, affordable, complete funeral package at Bramcote Crematorium.
  • Ongoing investment in the housing delivery programme
  • Continued investment in council homes with energy-saving measures including external wall insulation, loft insulation and solar panels.
  • Funding to support town centres through grant schemes.
  • Leading the way nationally to bring the properties up to a lettable standard, as part of the High Street Rental Auctions (HSRA) initiative.
  • Projects to protect and enhance the borough’s history including work at Colliers Wood and the opening of Bennerley Viaduct’s ramp and visitor centre.
  • Continued progress on reducing the council’s climate change footprint.

Coun Greg Marshall (Brox All), council deputy leader, said: “This consultation will play an important role in shaping next year’s budget and helping us understand what matters most to our residents.

"Over the past year we have continued to deliver on our priorities and invest in the future of the borough.

While Local Government Reorganisation still brings some uncertainty, the recent pause gives us a chance to take stock.

"It means we can spend time listening to residents, checking that our priorities reflect what matters most to them, and making sure our plans for the future are realistic and rooted in the needs of our communities.

“I would encourage everyone to take part and share the consultation with friends, family and colleagues so that as many voices as possible are heard.

“The results will be shared with the council’s vabinet to help inform the budget setting process.”

The survey will be open until November 17, visit surveymonkey.com/r/broxtowebudget27 to take part.
