Eastwood Library re-opens after being shut for building works
Eastwood Library is set to re-open today (Monday).
The building, on Wellington Place, was closed in September after a visit by Inspire – which runs Nottinghamshire libraries on behalf of the county council – to look at problems with the building.

Following that initial visit, further investigations were deemed necessary.
Last month, Inspire said there was no confirmed date for the building to re-open.
But now, in a post on their website, Inspire have confirmed the library re-opens today.
Inspire said: “We are pleased to announce that we expect Eastwood Library to re-open on Monday, November 2.
“All events that were temporarily moved to Kimberley Library, will now return to Eastwood Library with effect from November 2.”
Returning events to to Eastwood Library include:
Rhyme Rattle & Roll on Tuesdays and Thursdays (term time only) from 10am to 10.30am
Chess Club on alternate Tuesdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Places of Welcome every Thursday between 2pm and 3.30pm.
Crime café on the first Thursday of each month from 2pm to 3pm.
Lullaby bank on Mondays from 11.45am to 12.45pm.
Sing with friends on Monday, November 16 between 2pm and 3pm
Let’s Talk Tech (by appointment – please contact the library to arrange)
Kimberley Library will also now return to its usual opening hours after these had been extended to accomodate the extra events switching over from Eastwood.
At this stage there is no decision on when Eastwood Volunteer Bureau (EVB), which shares the building with the library, will return, but Coun James Walker-Gurley (Ref), county councillor for Eastwood, posting on Facebook, said options for finding EVB a new temporary home were being looked at.
He said : “I’ve been supporting EVB through this time, we’ve got the food bank operating from the back (of the library building) temporarily and we’re going to try and see if we can get them inside to share the library or look at other options so they’re not cold.
"Durban House is being looked at by Broxtowe Council to support the EVB in the mid-term and we’ve also got discussions around Walker Street and the new health and wellbeing hub.
"But the good news is the library is re-opening, it’s been a little while and we apologise for the disruption, but we had to make sure the building was safe.”
