Some, like the smooth taste of Mansfield Bitter are obvious, but others are much less well known – and perhaps subjective.
From landmark buildings, world-class Olympians and even the English dictionary – here’s a look at what Mansfield has given to the world...

5. Mansfield Bitter
Mansfield's former brewery is by far one of the town's best historical exports, with the drink's famous slogan of 'Not Much Matches Mansfield' ringing true even to this day. Many social clubs across the town still sell variants of the Mansfield Brewery produce - now brewed in Wolverhampton - but many can tell that the water used in the brewing process is not the same. 6. Metal Box
Mansfield’s Metal Box was a huge employer for the town for well over a century, creating metal tins for all manner of things such as Quality Street chocolate and well-known whiskey brands. The Metal Box building was an imposing part of Mansfield's landscape until it was mostly demolished. All that remains now is the clock tower. Photo: m

7. Olympic and Paralympic success
Mansfield and Ashfield boast some incredible success at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, with gold, silver and bronze medals all won by people from our area. Swimmer Rebecca Adlington is arguably the area's most treasured export, bringing home two gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Photo: m

8. Robin Hood
Mansfield was the chief town of Sherwood Forest — the legendary base for the activities of Robin Hood, the medieval robber and popular hero. The forest court was held in the town’s Moot Hall (built 1752). Stories about Robin Hood are still told all over the world today. Photo: m
