Dr Samantha Gaines, RSPCA dog welfare expert, said there was ‘unprecedented interest’ nationally in rehoming dogs during the coronavirus lockdowns.
In 2020, in Nottinghamshire 131 dogs were rehomed.
Many centres received hundreds of applications – some dogs were snapped up even before they had been advertised online.
While most were rehomed, some were sadly overlooked.
This ‘Adoptober’, the RSPCA wants to find homes for all the dogs that remain at RSPCA centres.

9. Bull terrier Bailey likes nothing more than a belly rub and plenty of fuss
Meet Bailey - Staffordshire Bull Terrier -who is a ten-years and one month old male. He is a lovely older gent who loves nothing more than a fuss and a belly rub. He has a skin condition which is being managed by special baths, which would need to be continued. He would enjoy a home with children aged 8+ where he can relax on the sofa. He would need to be an only dog, but may be able to walk with other dogs, dependent upon a successful introduction. (He is currently reserved). But to find out if he has been successfully homed. 10. Sweet and sensitive Scooby likes nothing more than his giant comfy bed and a peaceful life
Meet Scooby, a fawn greyhound, aged about three. He is a sweet and sensitive soul who loves his home comforts - his favourite, giant, soft bed, for one - and people. He adores being fussed and cuddled. He is a boy for warmth not cold, soft not rough, quiet not noisy. He would best suit an adult only home, without other dogs or cats. He walks nicely on the lead.
