Dr Samantha Gaines, RSPCA dog welfare expert, said there was ‘unprecedented interest’ nationally in rehoming dogs during the coronavirus lockdowns.
In 2020, in Nottinghamshire 131 dogs were rehomed.
Many centres received hundreds of applications – some dogs were snapped up even before they had been advertised online.
While most were rehomed, some were sadly overlooked.
This ‘Adoptober’, the RSPCA wants to find homes for all the dogs that remain at RSPCA centres.
Could you help give a home to one of these adorable pooches seen here…?

5. Gentle giant Kelly is looking for a forever home with a family who will love her
Meet Kelly - she is an eight-year-old brindle and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed, described as a “truly beautiful little lady, a proper puppy at heart, and full of beans." She is personable and friendly, and has happily been around children and other dogs. She does become quite anxious and stressed when left alone and will require some work from her new owners. She is almost house trained, could live with children of secondary school age, may be able to live with another dog, but prefers not to live with a cat. She is a gentle giant who loves fuss and attention. See: https://www.rspca.org.uk/findapet/details/-/Animal/KELLY/ref/BSA2106552/rehome Photo: RSPCA

6. Marvellous Marlow is looking for a family to take him to fly-ball and agility classes
Meet Marlow, who is always on the go! The one-year-old brindle greyhound cross breed would love a family that can dedicate lots of time and could take him to fly-ball and agility classes He loves running too. He is a bouncy and fun loving pup, who always wants to be around his favourite people - and play ball! A super happy chappy, his tail does not stop wagging. He would need help to learn to love another dog, though being the only pet in the house would be the best situation for him. He could live around secondary age children. 7. Lovable Lady is looking for a quiet home to spend her twilight years
Meet Lady, a tan, 13-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossbreed. She is a sweet natured, friendly and affectionate girl that keeps getting overlooked for the younger dogs and puppies. She is a little bit shy so is looking for a quiet home without other pets or children where I can settle without being disturbed. I would really like to find a new home with patient, loving and understanding owners where I can spend the rest of my twilight years. 8. High jumping Hagrid is always on the go and needs a family with a big fence!
Meet Hagrid - a sweet natured, almost two year old, black and white lurcher type/whippet crossbreed. An expert jumper, he will need a private and secure garden with fencing of at least 6ft! He is lovable character, with plenty of quirks, but needs time to feel comfortable around new people. He loves nothing more than playing tuggy and snuggling up. He could live with secondary age children, preferably not with a cat, and would prefer to be the only dog in a household. He loves food and treats and is always on the go.
