Freya Wilmot, aged five, who goes to Samuel Barlow Primary Academy in Clipstone, had her haircut at Artisans in Shirebrook.

She did it to raise money for the Little Princess Trust, a UK charity which provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people, up to the age of 24, who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment or other illnesses..

In all she had about 12 inches cut off her hair, all of which was donated to the charity.

And by the end, she was thrilled with not only how she looked but also a final total which to date on her Justgiving page stands at £635.

Katy Milburn, her mum said: “She looks so cute, just adorable.

“The only thing was we had to go back and have it finished on another day because she went down poorly on the original day but she has had it done now.

“We’re so thrilled that we’ve managed to raise so much money – when we started this, we didn’t even think we’d reach £150.

“So to raise what we have is phenomenal and she is over the moon with the total she’s raised.”

Katy and Freya were also very grateful to the people and businesses who have supported Freya in the venture.

Katy said: “I’d really like to thank everyone who has supported us on this, the reaction and support we have have has been absolutely incredible.

“We’ve had so many messages of support both before and after and everyone has been sharing it on Facebook, it’s been brilliant.

“The total that’s she reached will actually cover the cost of producing the wig as well, shaping it and creating a full wig for someone.

“So not only has she donated her hair, she’s donated enough so the whole wig to be made and make someone happy and she’s thrilled about that.”

And Freya has no plans to stop her fundraising efforts.

Katy said: “She now wants to grow her hair again so she can have it cut again to donate more.

“I might even grow mine and donate my hair too with her.”
