Cash boost for Mansfield charity as building society donates £50,000 to good causes

The Nottingham Building Society’s Mansfield branch is a long-standing supporters of Jigsaw, a mental health charity which helps lonely and isolated people.

The branch team nominated Jigsaw as part of a Christmas initiative which is seeing the building society share a pot of £50,000 with deserving local causes from its recently launched Samuel Fox Foundation.

Funds from the foundation, which is named after the building society’s founder, will support projects and causes that help communities thrive, from around the Nottinghamshire area.

Nominated by colleagues of The Nottingham, with a focus on supporting communities with the cost of living this year, the Jigsaw Support Scheme was one of 12 chosen charities in the East Midlands to receive a share of between £2,000-5,000.

Sue Hayes, The Nottingham chief executive officer, said: “For more than 170 years, The Nottingham has been here to support communities.

“This Christmas, we thought it only fitting that our amazing colleagues were given the chance to nominate charities they know are making a different to their local area.

“The majority are small organisations doing incredible work in their communities – many of which are also bearing the brunt of the cost of living crisis themselves, doing their best to support those in need with limited resources. I couldn’t be prouder of the team for getting behind such fantastic causes.”
