Officers were called to Priestsic Road following reports that a man had entered a supermarket and attempted to leave with a vacuum cleaner without paying.
After being challenged by security staff, the man left the premises. However, a short time later, he allegedly returned and made a second attempt to steal another vacuum cleaner.
Officers arrived shortly afterwards and arrested a suspect.
