Mansfield: Pupils are educated in energy efficiency

Children from two Mansfield primary schools have taken part in an interactive, energy-themed education programme.

Pupils from King Edward Primary and St Philip Neri with St Bede Primary were among the first in the country to participate in ‘Smart Kids’, organised by E.ON.

They worked with ‘Smart Alec’ across six sessions to find out how kinetic energy works and how to be more energy efficient.

“‘Smart Kids’ helped the children to understand more about where energy comes from and how to use it wisely in the home,” said Kerry Norman, deputy headteacher at King Edward.

Alison Gibson, senior community relations officer at E.ON, said: “This encourages the next generation to use no more energy than they need.”
