Sherwood Police said the bladed articles (pictured) were found in the graveyard at the bottom of Bishops Drive, Southwell, by a PCSO on foot patrol last Friday night.

The post said: "It was obvious they were left by accident. I don't have to remind people how dangerous and stupid it is to carry these kind of items on your person.

Anyone caught carrying such items will have the full force of the law brought down upon them. This is not acceptable in any community and will certainly not be tolerated in Southwell.

"The maximum penalty for an adult carrying a knife is 4 years in prison and an unlimited fine. You'll get a prison sentence if you're convicted of carrying a knife more than once."
