DEEP COAL MINING: UK’s last deep mine to close, but what are your memories of the industry locally?

Britain’s long tradition of deep coal mining will come to an end today with the closure of the Kellingley mine in North Yorkshire.

The industry has employed thousands of people across the UK, including many in Nottinghamshire.

Unions have sad the closure of Kellingley is a very sad day for the industry and the country.
