Woman arrested on suspicion of stealing dog outside Mansfield Police Station

A woman has been arrested after allegedly trying to steal a dog outside Mansfield Police Station.

The dog walker was approached by a man and woman who stroked the animal and made accusations that the pet was being mistreated.

The woman is then reported to have grabbed hold of the lead, until a struggle broke out and the walker was punched in the face.

Officers arrested the suspect outside the station.

Inspector Nick Butler said: "At around 6pm on Thursday, the woman tried to take a man's dog off him whilst he walked it outside the police station.

"The victim was punched to the face twice and he was threatened.

"Officers were swiftly on the scene to make the arrest after the man called out for help.

"A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

"She remains in police custody.

"The victim suffered minor injuries to his hand and wrists.
