Nottingham Crown Court heard Daniel Jeyes flew into a jealous rage and ordered four guests to leave their Russell Street home after a seven-hour drinking session, on August 6.
Laura Pitman, prosecuting, said Jeyes punched his partner in her face “as hard as he could” with both fists, four times, and she lost consciousness.

Blood was running down her face him as she said she loved him and pleaded with him to stop, but Jeyes continued punching her in the arms and head with his hand around her throat.
A passer-by heard her screams and called 999, but when police arrived Jeyes warned her to shut up, or he would kill her. He tried to convince officers she had fallen down the stairs, but was arrested when they saw her injuries.
Ms Pitman said: “Had it not been for the arrival of the police she feels she could have been killed that evening.”

In a statement his victim described herself as “heartbroken”, saying: “I loved Daniel, but am having to make this choice, because I fear he will kill me next time.”
The court heard their seven-year relationship improved after they stopped misusing drugs, in October 2019, but he had assaulted her in the past.
The attack put him in breach of a three-month prison term, suspended for 12 months, in February 2022 for assaulting an emergency worker.

Chris Brewin, mitigating said the railway worker was “very ashamed” and has been diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorder.
