Two men charged after hammer attack in village near Mansfield

Two men have been charged in connection with an incident which saw a man allegedly attacked with a hammer and metal pipe in Edwinstowe.

Police were called to High Street in the village at around 8pm on January 18 after a man had suffered multiple skull fractures as well as a broken nose, ribs and finger in the attack.

Reece O’Brien, 26, of Henton Road, Edwinstowe, and 20-year-old Deacon Cooper, of Trinity Road, Edwinstowe, have both been charged with grievous bodily harm and criminal damage in connection with the incident.

The criminal damage charges relate to an incident on Lansbury Road in the village on Saturday when windows and a fence were damaged at a house.

Det Con Greg Evans, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Violence has no place on our streets and we will always investigate reports thoroughly.

“The victim suffered multiple injuries in this attack and we have been working hard to establish the circumstances since it was reported to us.”

Police say O’Brien and Cooper were due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
