Seventeen drivers handed speeding tickets on major Mansfield road during police operation

Seventeen motorists were handed speeding tickets by police as part of an operation on a major road in Mansfield on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mansfield Operation Reacher Team put the brakes on bad drivers travelling along Chesterfield Road North in the town as part of its Fatal 4 Operation.

Officers say they were targeting motorists who were speeding, wearing no seatbelt, using a mobile phone or under the influence of drink or drugs while driving.

As well as 17 people being fined for flouting the speed limit on the busy road, two drivers were caught using using a mobile phone behind the wheel and another was found to be driving over the prescribed limit of alcohol.

“We have listened to your concerns and are committed in taking positive action in relation to this,” a spokesman said.
