Trial of Kirkby man charged with murder and attempted murder following fatal collision set for next February

The trial of a Kirkby man accused of murder and attempted murder following a collision at the weekend has been set for February next year.

John Jefferies, 31, of Walesby Drive, Kirkby, appeared before Nottingham Crown Court today (Thursday, August 13), via videolink from Lincoln Prison.

Dressed in a blue T-shirt, Jefferies spoke only to confirm his name at the hearing before Judge Stuart Rafferty QC, and a trial date was set for February 22 next year.

No plea was entered at the hearing and forensic reports have been ordered by the court in preparation for the trial..

A 29-year-old man died following the collision in Southwell Lane, Kirkby, at around 7.45pm on Saturday, August 8.

Another man suffered serious injuries in the collision, and remains stable in hospital.

No application was made for bail and Jefferies was remanded in custody to Lincoln Prison.
