Sutton man terrorised his mum with abuse, threats and demands for cash

A homeless Sutton man who terrorised his mother with abuse, threats and demands for cash also fought with police officers, a court heard.
Adam Doo began showing up at his mum’s place of work and used different phones to contact her over ten days in May and June, Oreshia Thomas, prosecuting, said.
In a statement Doo’s mother said she goes to bed in fear “because she doesn’t know when he will turn up” and worries about what he would do if they met in the street.
The court heard there were “always repercussions” if she didn’t have any money and she was in good health until Doo started terrorising her.
On one occasion he threatened to put “another brick” through her window unless she put £20 into his bank account.
Police were called when Doo was seen crowding over a woman and preventing her from getting up on August 11, last year.
As he was being arrested he grabbed an officer's collar and dragged him over before punching him twice in the face. PAVA spray was used to subdue him.
An “irate and aggressive” Doo also berated officers for not having their hazard lights on while they were dealing with an incident in the road.
He began calling them names and shouted: “See what happens next. Next one gets punched. I dont give a f***.” After his arrest he banged his head on the cell floor and door.
The court heard he has 12 previous convictions for 25 offences, including battery, criminal damage, and drunk and disorderly behaviour, and was last in trouble in August 2025.
Graham Heathcote, mitigating, said Doo had a very difficult and unsettling time after being taken into care as a teenager.
"The psychological scars of that period have been borne to this day," he said. "There has been a simmering resentment on his part.
"He wishes to make a fresh start, not only in terms of having no contact with his mother but also by moving away from Nottinghamshire."
He has a roofing job and accommodation in Worcestershire, added Mr Heathcote.
Doo, aged 34, admitted harassment without violence and making threats, and was convicted of assaulting emergency workers, at previous hearings.
On Wednesday, he refused to cooperate with the probation service and the case was adjourned until July 29 for sentence.
