Reports from the courts: defendants from the Mansfield area

These are the latest cases heard at Nottingham Magistrates' Court, between Monday, June 7, and Friday, June 11.

David Knighton, 49, of Tideswell Court, Mansfield, was convicted of assault on June 7. He received a 12 month community order with six months of treatment for alcohol dependency and 12 days of rehabilitation. He must pay a £95 surcharge and £620 court costs.

Lee Butcher, 22, of Park Avenue, Kirkby, admitted drug driving with 8.4 mcgs of cannabis when the specified limit is 2 mcgs, and possession of cannabis, on November 26, 2020. On June 7 he was fined £400, with a £40 surcharge and £85 costs. He was banned for 18 months.

Jordanna Bird, 39, of no fixed abode, admitted possession of a lock knife in Mansfield, on June 7. On June 8 she received an eight week sentence, suspended for 12 months, with 20 rehabilitation days. She must pay a £128 surcharge.

Zeke Dalziel, 35, of Corporation Street, Mansfield, was convicted in his absence of theft and admitted failing to surrender to court. He received a 22-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.

Daniel Smith, 24, of no fixed abode, admitted three counts of harassing two women in Mansfield, assaulting one of them, and criminal damage. On June 8 he was jailed for 25 weeks and ordered to pay £264 compensation. Two restraining orders, banning him from contacting the women for five years and two years respectively, were also imposed.

Jonathan Parmenter, 51, of Penn Street, Sutton, admitted using threatening words or behaviour on December 12, 2019, and breaching a suspended sentence. On June 8 he was fined £1,300 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, with a £175 surcharge and £300 costs.

Lee Walters, 39, of Westfield Lane, Mansfield, admitted two counts of theft while subject to a conditional discharge and failing to comply with post-sentence supervision. On June 9 he was jailed for 15 weeks and ordered to pay £260 compensation.

Gary Daniels, 51, of First Avenue, Ollerton, admitted two counts of assault. On June 10 he received a 12 month conditional discharge, with £1500 compensation to each victim, a £22 surcharge and £85 costs.

Jason Wilcox, 28, of Young Crescent, Sutton, admitted dangerous driving on May 31, 2019. On June 10, he was committed to Nottingham Crown Court for sentence and an interim disqualification was imposed.

Ryan Turner, 32, of Sadler Street, Mansfield, admitted possessing the synthetic cannabinoid "mamba" on April 26. On June 10 he received a six month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £22 surcharge and £85 costs.

Scott Kay, 23, of Carter Lane, Warsop Vale, Mansfield, admitted possession of a knife on October 17, 2019, in Ollerton. On June 10, he was fined £900 with a £90 surcharge and £160 costs.

Paul Welch, 51, of Baums Lane, Mansfield, admitted drink driving with 89 mcgs of alcohol when the legal limit is 35 mcgs, on April 3, 2020. On June 11, he was fined £120 with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. He was banned for 22 months.
