Nottinghamshire Police address Mansfield 'murder' rumours

Nottinghamshire Police have addressed rumours that there had been a ‘murder’ at an address in Mansfield last week.

Rumours had surfaced online that police and paramedics had been called to a property on Broxtowe Drive in the early hours of Thursday morning, and that a ‘murder’ had occurred at the address.

However, Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed that, although a man had sadly died, that his death was not being treated as suspicious.

A police spokesperson said of the incident: “We were called to an address in Broxtowe Drive in Mansfield, shortly before 4am on Thursday July 22.

“The body of a 45-year-old man was found inside and an investigation was launched into his death, which is not being treated as suspicious.

“Two people, a 40-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of class A drugs and were later released on bail.”
