'Noisy' Mansfield burglar stole can of WD40 from house in the early hours of this morning

A ‘noisy’ Mansfield burglar who stole a can of WD40 from a house in the early hours of this morning has been arrested.

The 37-year-old man woke up a husband and wife sleeping upstairs in a property on Hibbert Road that he broke into to steal power tools and a bank card.

After hearing a disturbance downstairs, the husband confronted the burglar and his wife rang the police.

Officers then arrested the intruder, who had the victims’ belongings in his possession.

Detective Sergeant Andy Hall said: "Officers attended a house in Hibbert Road in Mansfield at around 2am this morning following a report of a burglary.

"They were quickly on the scene to arrest a 37-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.

"He remains in police custody.

"Burglary is an incredibly upsetting crime and can be terrifying for victims, especially if it is also accompanied by violence.

"We take incidents such as this one extremely seriously and will continue to work hard to tackle burglary.”
