Mansfield Neighbourhood Police Officers seize illegal e-bike

Officers from Mansfield South Neighbourhood Team seized an illegal Surron electric bike.

Officers seized the bike on Monday October 26 on the Oak Tree Estate.

A police spokesman said: “A quick reminder E bikes like Surrons are classified as motor vehicles when ridden on public roads or footpaths or public spaces.

“This means riders require a valid driver's license, insurance, tax as well as a helmet and the bike to be fully roadworthy and fit to be on the road.

“Riding this illegally on footpaths, parks or estate roads place both pedestrian and other road users at risk.”

The rider has been reported for traffic offences.
