A man suffered a fractured eye-socket following an assault in a Nottinghamshire street.

Police were called after the victim was taken to hospital following an incident at Easthorpe, Southwell, at around 11pm, Monday, April 12.

Officers say the man was attacked in a street near The Hearty Goodfellow pub after he went to investigate noise of a disturbance and are now appealing for witnesses.

Det Con Lauren Carpenter of Nottinghamshire Police said: “This was a serious assault that left a man needing hospital treatment.

“There may have been people in the pub who might have witnessed something suspicious at the time.

“Incidents such as this can have a lasting impact beyond physical damage and we are working incredibly hard to establish the circumstances.

“The victim is potentially going to need surgery to treat his injuries, however, his injuries are not life-threatening.”
