Writing on Ashfield North Police’ Facebook page, a spokesman said: “Sergeant PP and JB from the Reacher team have been out in plain clothes today and they couldn't believe their luck earlier when they spotted a cyclist zooming along Outram Street.

“They quickly realised the cyclist was wanted for failing to appear at court . . . doh!! Mr Cyclist was scooped up soon after when officers went ahead and waited for him at his front door. Easy-peasy. One in custody.”
