Arrests for drug and knife offences after Kirkby car with 'strong smell of cannabis' stopped

Nottinghamshire Police have arrested three people in connection with drug and knife offences, after officers stopped a Kirkby vehicle that had a ‘strong’ smell of cannabis.

Officers stopped a car driving ‘suspiciously’ in the Nuncargate Road area which then drove off.

Following a short pursuit yesterday two men, aged 22, and a 16-year-old boy were all arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of a bladed article after a knife was found in the glove box.

A quantity of Class A drugs were also recovered following searches in Annesley and one of the 22-year-old men was charged with possession with intent to supply.

Detective Sergeant Matt Scott said: "This case highlights how we work collaboratively across several policing teams to ensure all trails of enquiries are followed up.

"From roads policing officers, acting on their suspicions to my CID team carrying out in-depth search warrants, we work together to ensure serious offences are put to a stop in Nottinghamshire."
